يقدم معلم الظل دعمًا فرديًا لطالب داخل بيئة المدرسة، ويساعده على التعامل مع التحديات الأكاديمية والاجتماعية من خلال المساعدة المخصصة طوال اليوم الدراسي. تتضمن هذه الخدمة الدعم الفردي، حيث يعمل معلم الظل بشكل وثيق مع الطالب للتفاعل مع المنهج الدراسي والمشاركة في الأنشطة الصفية.كما أن معلم الظل يساعد في إدارة السلوكيات، ومساعدة الطالب على التعلم واكتساب المهارات الاجتماعية الأساسية للنجاح الأكاديمي. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، يضمن معلم الظل التعاون مع معلمي الفصول الدراسية لتلبية احتياجات الطالب، وقد يشمل إجراء بعض التعديلات على مواد التعلم لتناسب أسلوب التعلم ووتيرته.

The shadow teacher provides individual support to a student within the school setting, assisting them to deal with academic and social challenges through individual assistance throughout the school day.
